Good morning from beautiful Jaipur, India - the “pink city” as they call it, due in large part to the hoards of flamingos that roam the streets. You can often catch these flamingos enjoying a coffee or practicing their cricket skills.

But in reality, there are no flamingos. The city is just literally pink. I know, it’s not nearly as exciting…

Anyway, there’s a lot going on in the travel world, so let’s dive in:

🌴 Calala Island Giveaway Winner Announced

Okay, look… I know we have a lot of awesome giveaways here at Daily Drop. To be honest, some of these trips y’all get to go on make me super jealous sometimes.

This is one of those trips…

It is with great pleasure that I announce the winner of an all-expenses-paid, five-night stay on Calala Island in Nicaragua.

And the winner is…

🎉 JENNIFER S. 🎉 CONGRATS, YOU LUCKY DUCK!!

I can’t wait to hear about your amazing adventure, and PLEASE take me if you need a plus one to come with you.

I’m kidding, obviously.

Unless…

No, that’s crazy… 🤭

Anyway, if the rest of you are as jealous as I am, don’t forget that you can book this hotel for just 40,000 Hyatt points per night. I know that’s pretty steep, but remember that this property can cost THOUSANDS of dollars per night, and everything is included.

If you want a step-by-step refresher on how to book this, we made a Youtube video that’ll give you all the deets 😎

Not to mention, if you recently signed up for this card because of the epic welcome bonus, I think we all know where you should be aiming to transfer those points… It’s Hyatt. Transfer them to Hyatt.

Lastly, if you didn’t win and you don’t have extra points… we’ve got your back! And that’s because we’ll be announcing another giveaway next week 👀🎉

💳 Earn an extra 15,000 Bilt points (targeted)

Bilt is awesome. For one, they let us say their name in our newsletter which, sadly, is saying a lot 🙃

But they do a lot more than that…

They have what they call “rent day” which offers monthly promotions for anyone with a Bilt account. This also includes things like great earning rates, stellar transfer partners, and now, an excellent promo for Bilt cardholders to rack up 15,000 more Bilt points.

Just a quick FYI, this is a targeted offer and doesn’t apply to everyone…

But here are the details:

  • If you’ve been targeted for the offer, you can earn 5x points on the following categories:

    • Amazon

    • Food delivery

    • Phone and internet

  • This is valid until August 13th, 2023

  • Maximum of 15,000 bonus points allowed (5,000 for each category)

Overall, this is an awesome deal for anyone who owns the Bilt card and has been targeted. I personally think that Bilt points are the most valuable transferrable points currency.

You can transfer your points to programs like American Airlines, Hyatt, Virgin Atlantic, and many more.

So any chance to rack up thousands (or tens of thousands) of these points is not something to overlook. You can see if you’ve been targeted by checking your email where Bilt has been sending these offers over the last few days.

Let us know if you’ve been targeted with this offer and how you plan to make use of it!

👽 Virgin Galactic ramps up their space flights

Are you a fan of long-distance travel? If so, I’ve got great news for you.

Virgin Galactic has finally announced dates for their first series of space flightsfilled with normal people like you and me.

That’s right. Normal people are going to be experiencing something that has been exclusive to a select few humans for decades.

Sometime between June 27th and 30th, Galactic 01 (the first flight of Virgin Galactic) will take a crew of six researchers into space.

Pretty badass, eh?

Well, it gets more badass… In August, another flight will take off carrying members of the public who purchased their tickets years ago, and monthly flights will follow.

That means that any old schmuck can buy a ticket to SPACE now. Well… any old schmuck with $200,000-$500,000 lying around… 😬

Still, it’s pretty incredible to see such innovation in the travel space happening in our lifetimes, and it will only become more accessible over time. Maybe one day we can have a Daily Drop meetup in the Exosphere.

By the way, Virgin Galactic is slightly different than Virgin Atlantic, so don’t accidentally book the wrong flight. 😉

Would you travel to space if you could?

🤓 Travel Trivia Tuesday

Correct answer: a freaking BEAR

Yup, folks! That’s right. Come to think of it, I don’t know if this experience was stranger for the beachgoers or for the bear…

Some people noticed the black bear splashing around in the water before swimming up to shore, and most people were in shock and didn’t even realize it was a bear.

People even decided to swim with him. I gotta be honest, there are far worse things to encounter in the ocean, but a bear still isn’t great. Not sure I’d be super eager to grab my floaties…

Apparently, there was another bear spotted in a Florida park just a few weeks before. Maybe they wanted to be snowbirds, too. 🤷‍♂️

That’s all for today, friendos. I’d be flipping out if I saw a bear chilling on the beach. Those things can be dangerous…
