Good morning and welcome back to Daily Drop! Today is packed with transfer bonuses, trivia, and a special treat for you Swifties out there…

🏨 Marriott is giving away Taylor Swift tickets

We love travel around here.

It’s amazing that we can use points, miles, and other travel hacks to expand our minds, see the world, and experience things we never dreamed possible.

But some things in life are more important than points and miles…

I’m talking, of course, about Taylor Swift: America’s sweetheart and the most important person in most of our lives.

Thankfully, Marriott is well aware of this fact - because they’re giving away free tickets AND trips to various Taylor Swift concerts around the world.

Here’s what’s up:

Marriott Bonvoy is one of the many sponsors behind Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, and has decided to give away the following prizes to a few lucky Marriott Bonvoy members:

  • Three trips to see the Eras Tour in three different countries, including airfare, hotels, and concert tickets

  • A trip for two to see the concert in Vancouver, Canada (also including airfare and hotels)

  • Two tickets to see the Eras Tour in each of the following cities:

    • Stockholm

    • Madrid

    • Zurich

    • Milan

    • Hamburg

    • Vienna

    • Miami

    • New Orleans

    • Indianapolis

    • Toronto

    • Vancouver

All you need to do to enter this sweepstakes is be a Marriott Bonvoy member and fill out the form on this page.

Oh, and there is one other way to score Swift tickets through Marriott…

Marriott is also allowing members to bid on Taylor Swift tickets using Marriott Bonvoy points.

The catch…?

Well, the bidding starts at 500,000 points. 😬

Still, if you have a boatload of points sitting around from one of the many ridiculous elevated card offers and you REALLY like Taylor Swift, it could very well be a worthwhile use of your points.

So here’s the bottom line:

Marriott is giving members multiple opportunities to score some of the most highly-coveted concert tickets in the world. So take 30 seconds and fill out the form.

Oh… and if you end up winning and need a plus one… call me. 📞😉

✈️ 20% transfer bonus to Etihad

In the past, I’ve told you about how to book amazing Etihad flights using programs like American Airlines and Aeroplan.

But did you know that Etihad has its own points currency? And right now, you can transfer MR Points to Etihad with a 20% bonus.

A screenshot of the transfer bonus from MR Points to Etihad

To be honest, the redemption values for booking Etihad flights with Etihad’s own miles are not that great…

For example, to fly between the U.S. and Etihad’s base in Abu Dhabi, you’d need to shell out 160,000 Etihad miles for a first-class ticket, along with a hefty cash cost for the taxes, fees, and surcharges.

Thankfully, Etihad also allows you to use their miles to book flights with partners like American Airlines, using a fixed-cost chart:

Etihad's distance-based award chart

So if you wanted to book a domestic flight on American from New York to Los Angeles, you could do so for just 28,000 Etihad miles, which isn’t bad.

With the 20% transfer bonus, that cost goes down to just 23,000 MR Points.

A short-haul flight like Chicago to Dallas would only run you 12,000 Etihad miles, or 10,000 MR Points with the transfer bonus.

So whether you’re looking to travel in luxury across the world, or just looking for a low-cost domestic flight in the U.S., this is a good opportunity to do either (or both).

If you need a card to rack up some MR Points quickly, we’ve got you covered: just check out our dedicated page here with all the best cards to earn them.

🤓 Travel Trivia Tuesday

Can you guess the best spot for viewing the total solar eclipse expected on April 8, 2024?

Only Email Recipients can participate in polls.

Alaska Airlines has identified Mazatlán, Mexico, as one of the prime locations for viewing the upcoming total solar eclipse.

Because of this, flights to Mazatlán have seen a significant increase in demand, with the city anticipated to experience the longest duration of "totality" along Alaska Airlines' network.

Specific routes to Mazatlán, mainly from LA, have seen the largest numbers. Plus, Alaska Airlines has added extra service to Mazatlán in anticipation of the high demand.

While Mazatlán stands out as a top choice for eclipse viewing, routes to Texas, including cities like Austin, Dallas, and San Antonio, have also seen increased popularity.

Similarly, flights to Ohio, specifically Cleveland, are popular.

With the Great American Eclipse crossing the country from Texas to Maine, there are several ways to experience the eclipse – and it seems many have already begun planning travel.

I'm curious… do any of you plan to travel for the eclipse?
