Welcome to Daily Drop

You’re a road warrior.
Are you making the most of your current spend?

We looked at your survey answers, and we love to see that you travel a lot. You've dabbled with points. You probably have the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card already. But you've got a feeling you're leaving something on the table.

Let's fix that.

Show me what I'm missing

This page is for the person who:

01
Travels 5+ times a year, for fun and sometimes for work
02
Has used points before but isn't sure they're getting the most out of them
03
Wants lounge access, hotel upgrades, or smarter redemptions
04
Is ready to add a second card that actually earns its keep

One card was a good start.
But your travel schedule has outgrown it.

If you've got the Sapphire Preferred and you're taking 5+ trips a year, you're already in the right ecosystem. The question is whether the card you're carrying is keeping up with how you actually travel.

At 5-10 trips a year, lounge access stops being a luxury. A $300 travel credit pays for itself before February. And if you're booking 2+ hotels a year, a card that earns premium hotel points is suddenly worth running the math on.

Upgrade your primary card

These cards are best suited as your main travel card (the one you put most spending on). If you already have the Sapphire Preferred, each of these is a natural next step.

Why it fits

If you don't already have it, the CSP is still the best entry-level travel card on the market. 3x on dining, 2x on travel, and access to the full Chase transfer partner list (Hyatt, United, Flying Blue, and more) for $95 a year.

Key perks:

$50 hotel credit, 10% anniversary points bonus, trip delay insurance, primary rental car coverage

A note for solo travelers

If you travel alone some or most of the time, a couple of these perks hit differently. Lounge access means you don't need to find a quiet corner of the terminal before a flight. Trip delay insurance means a missed connection doesn't ruin your whole itinerary. And flexible points — ones you can use for a single ticket, not just for two — are just more useful.

The Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card, Chase Sapphire Preferred Card, and the Amex Gold Card allow free authorized users, which matters if you occasionally travel with a partner or family member and want them covered too.

The points you have may be worth more than you think.

Most frequent travelers sit on points they never fully use. Here is what actually works at your travel frequency:
  • Transfer Chase points to Hyatt. Even a single free night at a mid-tier Hyatt can be worth $250-$400. At 5+ trips a year, that adds up fast.
  • Transfer to Flying Blue or Aeroplan for flights. Both programs regularly price partner routes lower than U.S. airlines’ own programs.
  • Use Capital One miles to cover travel purchases. You can reimburse yourself for any charge coded as travel within 90 days at 1 cent each. No portals, no blackout dates.
  • Book premium cabins on points. If you're flying internationally even once a year, a business-class redemption through the right partner program can be worth 3-5x an economy-class redemption.
