Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines have officially united under a single loyalty program called Atmos Rewards, bringing both carriers together to create one of the most flexible and traveler-friendly loyalty programs in the industry.
But this isn’t just about combining route maps. Atmos Rewards merges the best of the legacy Mileage Plan and HawaiianMiles programs, giving travelers more ways to earn and redeem points along with expanded perks through both Oneworld alliance and non-alliance partners.
Whether you’re a casual flyer looking to save on short trips or a frequent traveler chasing elite perks, this guide will show you everything you need to know about the new Atmos Rewards program and how to maximize it.
What Is Atmos Rewards?
Atmos Rewards is the new unified loyalty program for Alaska and Hawaiian Airlines. It preserves the beloved features of Mileage Plan while introducing more flexibility, choice, and enhanced global access.
Members can now earn and redeem Atmos Rewards points across a larger airline network with thousands of routes through its Oneworld (and non-alliance) partners:

Transition from Mileage Plan and HawaiianMiles
As of August 20, 2025, Mileage Plan members were automatically migrated to Atmos Rewards without losing miles or elite status — they simply became Atmos Rewards points of the same value. HawaiianMiles accounts will transition the same way on October 1, 2025.
A bit of lingo within the program has also changed:
“Miles” are now points
“Elite-qualifying miles” are now status points
1 mile = 1 Atmos point (no devaluation)
Atmos Rewards Elite Status
Atmos Rewards offers four elite status levels with corresponding Oneworld tiers:
Atmos Tier | Former Tier | Required Status Points | Bonus Points Earned | Oneworld Status |
---|---|---|---|---|
Atmos Silver | MVP / Pualani Gold | 20,000 points | 25% | Ruby |
Atmos Gold | MVP Gold / Pualani Platinum | 40,000 points | 50% | Sapphire |
Atmos Platinum | MVP Gold 75K | 80,000 points starting in 2026 | 100% | Emerald |
Atmos Titanium | MVP Gold 100K | 135,000 points starting in 2026 | 150% | Emerald |

How to Earn Atmos Rewards Points
While flying may be the most obvious way to earn, Atmos Rewards offers plenty of opportunities to build your balance through everyday activities, credit cards, and travel partners.
Earn From Flying
Starting in 2026, Atmos Rewards becomes the first U.S. airline program to let members choose how they earn. You can opt for the method that matches your travel style:
Distance flown — best for budget-conscious, long-haul economy trips
Dollars spent — ideal if you regularly book premium cabins or higher-priced tickets
Segments flown — a flat 500 points per flight, perfect for frequent short hops
💡 Pro Tip: You can update your earning preference each year, giving you flexibility if your travel habits change.
Earn From Credit Cards
If you’re hoping to rack up points from spending, Alaska now offers three Atmos Rewards credit cards, including its first-ever premium option: the Atmos Rewards Summit Visa Infinite®.

The Atmos Summit card is appealing to Alaska loyalists for many reasons:
Welcome offer: Earn 100,000 bonus points and a 25,000-point Global Companion Award for spending $6,000 or more in the first 90 days of account opening.
$395 annual fee
3x points on dining, all foreign purchases, Alaska and Hawaiian flights
8 Alaska Lounge passes annually (premium bar perks through 2026)
10,000 bonus status points every year (plus 1 status point per $2 spent)
Instant $50 flight delay credit (if flight is delayed more than two hours or canceled within 24 hours)
Free bag and preferred boarding for you and six companions
Free points sharing with up to 10 other Atmos members
Waived partner award booking fees (worth up to $25 per person per round-trip)
Waived same-day confirmed flight change fees (worth up to $50 on each one-way flight)
Alaska’s OG consumer and business credit cards are still here, but have now been rebranded as the Atmos Rewards Ascent Visa Signature® and the Atmos Rewards Visa® Business.
Atmos Rewards Transfer Partners
Bilt Rewards transfers are still alive and well, with a transfer ratio of 1:1 to Atmos Rewards. If you have the Bilt Mastercard (rates & fees), you’re already set up with another option to boost your Atmos balance.
Additionally you can transfer points from Marriott Bonvoy into Atmos Rewards at a 3:1 ratio, with a 5,000-point bonus for every 60,000 Bonvoy points you move.
Earn With Hotel Partners
You can also opt to earn Atmos Rewards points when you stay with hotel partners, including:
Best Western Rewards
Rocketmiles
Earn With Car Rentals
Atmos Rewards members can also earn points on car rentals from:
Avis
Budget
National
Dollar
Hertz
Everyday Partners
Beyond flights and hotels, you can earn points through everyday activities:
Lyft: Link your accounts to earn Atmos Rewards points on eligible rides.
Dining Rewards Program: Register a card and earn points when you dine at participating restaurants.
Shopping Portal: Earn Atmos Rewards points when you shop online through Atmos Shopping.
How to Redeem Atmos Rewards
Perhaps the best part of earning points is redeeming them for travel! You have several options:
Book Award Flights
Short-distance flights operated by Alaska Airlines start at just 4,000 Atmos Rewards points, like this route from Seattle (SEA) to Portland (PDX):

You can also unlock incredible long-haul value. For example, flights from Seattle (and other West Coast cities) to Tokyo (NRT) on Hawaiian Airlines start at just 35,000 points one-way:

Other Atmos Rewards sweet spots include:
Domestic First Class (701–1,400 miles): Routes like New York–Florida in American Airlines First Class start at just 15,000 points one-way.
Northeast U.S. to Europe (Business Class): Routes between 1,501–3,500 miles start at just 45,000 points one-way. Think Boston–London, New York–Dublin, or Philadelphia–Madrid.
U.S. East Coast to Doha on Qatar Qsuites: Experience one of the world’s best business class products for only 70,000 points one-way.
Atmos Rewards also lets you add a free stopover on one-way international awards. For example, if you’re flying from New York to the Maldives via Doha, you could plan a multi-day stop in Doha at no extra cost before continuing on.

Redeem Points for Experiences
Atmos Rewards Unlocked gives you access to curated events and experiences that can be booked directly with points — think Broadway shows, concerts, guided hiking tours, hotel + activity packages, and more.
Points-to-Hotel Transfers
I wouldn’t ping this as your first or best option, but Atmos Rewards points can be transferred to select hotel programs. This perk is exclusive to Atmos Summit cardholders and includes the following transfer partners:
Marriott Bonvoy: 1:1
Wyndham Rewards: 1:1
Preferred Hotels/I Prefer: 1:2
Shangri-La Circle: 8:1
IHG One Rewards: 1:1 (until early November 2025)

Bottom Line
For frequent flyers looking for value, flexibility, and global reach, Atmos Rewards builds on Alaska’s Mileage Plan legacy while adding personalization, expanded redemption options, and a first-of-its-kind way to choose how you earn points.
The Atmos Summit card makes the program even more rewarding if you can take advantage of its perks, while transfer partners like Bilt Rewards give you another simple way to boost your balance.
Overall, Atmos Rewards puts Alaska in the big leagues of airline loyalty, cementing it as a top-tier program that’s well worth your loyalty.
