Good morning from the strange (and moist) city of Asuncion, Paraguay! 🇵🇾

Paraguay is one of those places that is INCREDIBLY interesting, yet many people don’t know the first thing about it… or that it even exists.

But that’s why I’m here. So stay tuned for some Paraguay content.

ANYGUAY, here’s what we have cookin’ today:

🎒 How I travel for weeks with a single backpack

Okay… this one has been a long time coming.

Many of you know that I travel with a single backpack whether it’s a two-night trip or a three-month trip.

And not always a big boy backpack either… I mean a tiny, 10-pounder.

I’ve spent years perfecting my travel setup, finding the right type of clothing, and getting comfortable traveling with next to nothing.

I’m like the Marie Kondo of travel hacking - except weirder and less handsome.

Today, by popular demand, I’m going to show you how I pack for travel with a live show & tell where I’ll walk you through my pack on this current trip through South America and wax poetically(ish) about my packing philosophy.

You can join me today in the Daily Drop Lounge LIVE at 12:00 p.m. EST.

👔 Reminder: You probably own a business

Yesterday, I told you about an amazing business credit card that currently has a record-high welcome offer.

In response, many of you reached out to tell me that you don’t care. Because you’re “not a business person.”

So today, I wanted to refresh your memory on why you might actually be a business person without knowing it, and can therefore take part in the Smorgåsbord of incredible offers.

First of all, you do not need to own a registered business with employees earning millions of dollars a year to open a business credit card.

In fact, many of you probably have what banks would consider to be a business and don’t even realize it.

If you make ANY side or freelance income, you have a business.

If you have plans to make any side or freelance income, you have a business.

If you have ever sold an item on eBay, you have a business.

If you sing opera occasionally, you have a business (no? just me?).

If you walk your neighbors’ dogs for $10, you have a business.

If you sell homemade woven baskets on Etsy, you have a business.

Are you starting to get the picture? 😏

Here’s the deal:

If you do anything resembling what I just described, you don’t even need to register a business.

Instead, you can simply become a sole proprietor (not to be confused with a soul proprietor, which is a demon-like creature that harvests and collects souls).

By the way - Soul Proprietor? EXCELLENT name for a metal band.

A “Sole Proprietorship” is basically just a person making a side income. It doesn’t need to be registered, you don’t need to have revenue coming in, and you don’t need an EIN (Employer Identification Number).

Instead, the business is simply attached to your personal Social Security Number.

This means that when tax time comes, you don’t need to do any complicated business taxes either. You simply file taxes for yourself and any business income is marked as self-employment income.

When filling out an application for a business credit card, you simply use your own name as the name of the business.

Honestly, that’s all there really is to it. It’s way more simple than you may have initially thought!

But now for the million-dollar question…

Why should I care about business cards if I don’t do lots of business-y things?

I’m glad you asked.

Business cards often have great offers and perks that you don’t get with personal cards.

Additionally, they often pair well with personal cards from the same bank or points program, allowing you to further maximize your spending, earning, and redeeming.

As a reminder, we have a page that lists our favorite business cards and the current best offers on the market. So go check it out.

…no, seriously. Go check it out. I’ll wait here for you.

🤓 Travel Trivia Tuesday

Correct answer: a whoooole bunch of GOLDEN RETRIEVERS 😍

On July 13th, 488 of the literal cutest dogs on the planet gathered in the Scottish highlands for a golden retriever convention.

Whoever had this idea…is a freaking genius.

The convention was called to commemorate the anniversary of the founding of this breed of dog.

This was the biggest group of golden retrievers since the beginning of the convention in 2001.

Just look at this picture… 👇
