Good morning from Zurich, where I just finished taking a Harry Potter quiz – so please allow me to Slytherin to your email inbox today. šŸ

Speaking of Harry Potter, here’s some points and miles stuff:

šŸØ I’m giving away my Hyatt awards

World of Hyatt is one of those programs that rewards you at literally every level – you can transfer Ultimate Rewards points or Bilt Rewards and score nights for as little as 3,500 points.

But my favorite little weird Hyatt flex? The Guest of Honor award.

What it is (short version): you gift the award to someone and when they use it, Hyatt treats them like a Globalist for that stay – free breakfast, possible suite upgrades, lounge access, late checkout, the works.

Guest of Honor Awards

You can rack up these awards by staying at Hyatt hotels throughout the year and earning milestone rewards.

Here’s why it’s rewarding for everyone involved:

  • You don’t have to be traveling with the person. You can gift it to someone online instantly, then they call Hyatt to apply it to their stay.

  • The recipient gets Globalist perks even if they’ve never stayed at a Hyatt.

  • The recipient can use a single award for a stay of up to 7 nights.

  • When your giftee stays, you (the gift-er) earn one elite night credit.

Here’s how it looks in real life: I send a Guest of Honor to you. You apply it to a booked stay and enjoy the VIP treatment.

After the stay posts, I get one elite night credit. Even if you stay three nights, I still only get one – which makes this both generous and delightfully petty (but I’m not complaining).

Elite night credit for GoH award

Right now, I’ve got four Guest of Honor awards sitting in my account – and yes, I’m giving them away to YOU. šŸ¤—

How to enter:

  1. Click the poll below and pick an option.

  2. In the comment field (after you click), tell me about a booked stay you already have – when it is, which Hyatt, and why this would make it special.

  3. Must be a booked stay happening before Dec 31 (Mikey wants those elite nights on the books this year).

  4. For extra consideration, give me some flair. I don’t know exactly what that means, but just do it.

If you betray me and don’t apply it to a stay this year, I will never forgive you. And I will hunt you down. And I will scold you. 🫵

Okay, here you go:

I will choose the winners and email you personally. Have fun! 🤩

āš”ļø Battle Royale: Membership Rewards points vs. Ultimate Rewards points

If you’re an avid reader of Daily Drop (which you better be), you’ve probably seen us rave about transferable points. It’s kind of our thing. šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™‚ļø

But with all the different banks, cards, and currencies out there, choosing the right points to collect can be… confusing… to say the least.

So McKay wrote up a tasty article putting our two favorite points programs head-to-head. Check it out NOW. šŸ‘‡

šŸŒŽ Travel Trivia Reveal

Aaaand the correct answer to the trivia from earlier is… Taiwan šŸ‡¹šŸ‡¼

In a recent Reddit thread on r/travel, Taiwan was named the most underrated destination in the world.

People mainly love it for its insane street food culture and infrastructure, basically the best parts of Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, and South Korea rolled into one.

Beyond Taipei, destinations like Kaohsiung, Tainan, and Kenting National Park are all known for beautiful beaches, rich culture, and great food — all with far fewer crowds than other major destinations in Asia.

Another positive? McKay and I discovered you can eat chicken butt on a stick. So if you needed another reason to go, you’re welcome. šŸ‘‡

It turns out, butt tastes pretty good

If Taiwan isn’t on your list yet, it should be. Read about other popular ā€œunderrated spotsā€ in this article.

That’s all for today, my friends. I hope some of you will enjoy putting my Guest of Honor awards to good use, and that you all enjoyed today’s content.

See you tomorrow āœŒļø
