Gooood morning and welcome back to Daily Drop! People have compared our travel hacks to the new Wonka movie. We’re classic… but with new surprises. We are however missing one Timothee Chalamet, but gosh darn, we can’t have it all 🤷🏻‍♀️

Here’s what we’ve got on the docket for today:

  • 🏨 Hilton launches new winter 2024 promo: Points Plus

  • 💳 [Targeted] Email code for 20% off Marriott gift cards

🏨 Hilton launches new winter 2024 promo: Points Plus

It’s crazy to think that the new year is quickly gaining on us… like, 21 days away… 👀

That’s precisely 504 hours to get your 💩 together before January 1st.

You know, things like eating the remaining two pounds of holiday fudge on your counter in order to start the new year off on the right “healthy” foot.

But Hilton is also aware of the rapidly-approaching new year, which is why they’ve released the details of their new winter 2024 promo called Points Plus.

Basically, members will be able to earn up to 2,500 bonus points per stay between January 1st and May 1st, 2024.

And if you’re not a member, it’s free to sign up!

You’ll earn 2,000 bonus points per stay no matter what, but you’ll tack on that extra 500 points for using a Digital Key with your check-in (which is so easy to do, there’s no reason not to get the Digital Key).

In all fairness, this isn’t the most exciting deal I’ve ever seen from Hilton, but it’s still something to put to good use if you’re planning a stay with them early next year anyway.

Personally, I never pass up on an opportunity to earn a bonus anything—whether it’s points, miles, cats, etc.

So here are some additional deets:

  • You must register for the promo (but eligible stays for that timeframe that were booked before you registered will still count 🎉)

  • There’s no limit to how many bonus points you can earn

  • There’s also no minimum stay required (a stay could be a single night, FYI)

  • Award stays are eligible for this promo (as long as you earned Base Points as part of your stay)

If you want to peruse more of Hilton’s FAQs on this promo, you can find ‘em here.

And remember, these bonus points are in addition to what members ordinarily earn at most properties (10X per dollar), plus the percentage of bonus points that Hilton elites also get (e.g. 100% bonus for Diamond members, as an example).

Taking it even further, you can supercharge the points you are earning by holding one of their cards.

Even their lower-tiered card will get you 7X points per dollar at Hilton properties, with their higher-end card scoring you 14X points per dollar 😏

With this current promo, I think you’ll get the most bang for your buck out of shorter stays at less-expensive properties, versus longer ones. Again, since a “stay” could be just a single night.

Also, don’t forget about Hilton’s current fall promo (that ends December 31st) where you could earn 2X points on all stays, and 3X points in select cities… but the multipliers on this are actually insane 🤯

If you want a refresher on that promo, read Mike’s take in this newsletter.

But dang, there’s nothing better than when you can rack up and stack up some tasty bonus points, am I right??

💳 [Targeted] Email code for 20% off Marriott gift cards

This appears to be a targeted offer for card holders only, so CHECK YOUR EMAILS 👇

The link included in the email appears to be a one-time, unique discount code that you’d need to apply at check-out.

If you maxed this out at buying $3,000 worth of eGiftCards, you’d save $600, which is a pretty significant amount.

There are a few of other things that make this a solid deal:

  • You can earn Marriott points for online purchases of Marriott eGiftCards if you use your eligible Marriott card… further maximizing on this purchase

  • eGiftCards can, of course, be redeemed for stays at most Marriott properties, but they can also be used at participating retail, spa, golf, food and beverage outlets, and for other property incidentals

  • You can combine your eGiftCard with shopping portal rewards (e.g. book your reservation through your favorite portal to score additional rewards, and then pay with your gift card at checkout)

  • View the full Marriott gift card terms and conditions here

What can I say, I’m a big fan of travel-hacking stackery when I can make it work 🤗

But perhaps the most important detail of note here is… this deal to purchase a gift card is only valid through 11:59 p.m. EST on December 16th.

Just know that I received this email over the weekend with a subject line that read “Unwrap Your Holiday Escape for 20% Less.”

I have an entire email address solely dedicated to receiving travel promos, and trust me, I receive a lot from Marriott 🙃

So sometimes, it’s easy to swipe through these emails and not give them a second glance, but if you see this one sitting pretty in your inbox, it’s worth looking into if it makes sense to use this discount for your future travels!
