Airlines and hotels don't usually coordinate, but this week it sure feels like they did. Two of my favorite programs (Alaska and Hyatt) decided to drop two of the best deals we’ve seen in a while.

🌎 Alaska Global Getaways: Fly to Japan for 27k points

Alaska just dropped a new round of its Global Getaways sale, and it’s a very good one.

By the way, this used to be a quarterly thing, and now it's monthly.

That makes me happy, because Global Getaways is one of my favorite recurring award sales.

Instead of the usual discount suspects, Alaska picks a grab bag of cool, more off-the-beaten-path destinations, and there's usually something for everyone.

This month, nine cities made the list. 👇

Now, not all of these are slam dunks. Destinations like Madrid can be booked for fewer points through other programs, so temper your excitement there.

But two of these deals are worth dropping everything for.

Osaka, Japan for 27,500 points

This one applies from anywhere in the U.S., even the East Coast.

So you can even fly from cities like Boston or New York to Osaka for 27,500 Atmos points plus $12. 👇

That's an amazing deal, full stop.

One heads up: this routing connects in Honolulu, and the layover is... substantial.

But I’m going to take a wild guess and say that most people won’t mind spending 23 hours on a beach in Hawaii on their way to Japan. 😉

Tahiti for 25,000 points

If you're a beach person who wants to go somewhere other than Cancun or Bali, look no further.

Papeete is the gateway to Tahiti, and with this sale you can get there for just 25,000 Atmos points.

As with all of these deals, the rate applies when flying from any U.S. city. Here’s Chicago to Papeete for 25,000 points plus $17. 👇

For a destination where cash fares routinely run four figures, this is an absolutely insane deal.

The rest of the list

Here's what else is on sale, one-way in economy:

• Hong Kong for 34,000 points (great deal)

• Nadi, Fiji for 30,000 points (great deal)

• Sydney for 35,000 points (quite a good deal)

• Rome and Budapest for 25,000 points (fine)

• Madrid and Edinburgh for 20,000 points (fine)

One quick note if you're eyeing Europe: steer clear of British Airways flights across the Atlantic, because the cash surcharges will basically undo everything the sale just did for you.

Also, each destination has its own eligible travel window, but every one of these must be booked by tomorrow, August 8.

The catch

Atmos points are only transferable from Bilt Rewards, which makes them harder to earn than most airline points.

If you don't have Bilt Points, you can also earn Atmos points directly with the Alaska and Hawaiian co-branded credit cards.

Or you can do what I do: credit paid oneworld flights to Atmos.

Whenever I fly Qatar, American, Cathay Pacific, or British Airways, I add my Alaska loyalty number instead of the airline's own program. I've built up close to 400,000 Atmos points that way, without touching a single Bilt point.

The bottom line

Global Getaways going monthly means more chances at deals like this, and this batch has two legitimate steals in Osaka and Tahiti.

World of Hyatt just launched a new promo that's basically stay three nights, get one free.

Here's how it works: when you book three nights at eligible resorts in Latin America and the Caribbean (the full list is on Hyatt's promo page), you'll earn a Category 1-4 free night award. 👇

And you can do this up to five times, which means a full 15-night stretch could earn you five free nights.

That's a nice return if you were already planning a week in the Caribbean this winter.

The fine print: you need to register for the offer and book by September 30, and the stays themselves have to happen between January 1 and March 31.

So yes, you kind of have to plan your vacation around the promo, which is a bit annoying.

Is this any good?

Hyatt's all-inclusive resorts err on the pricier side, but... they're also all-inclusive.

Your room, your meals, and your drinks are all baked into the rate (though different rates have different inclusions, so always check).

For example, these two properties in Mexico run around $220 per night in February and March. For two adults, with everything included, that's not bad at all. 👇

Stack three of those nights, and you walk away with a Category 1-4 free night award on top.

But what's one of those actually worth?

Well, funny you should ask

I just redeemed a stack of them myself, so let me give you some real examples.

Two weeks from now, I'm using two free night awards at the Anndore House in Toronto. On my dates, the hotel was running close to $400 per night after taxes and fees, or 20,000 Hyatt points. 👇

In this case, my free night awards were superrrrrr valuable.

One more example: in October, I'll be in Stockholm for a few nights at the Hôtel Reisen, right in the middle of Gamla Stan (the old city).

It's also a Category 4, which means it's bookable with these same free night awards. Rates there run north of $300 per night on my dates, completely wiped away without spending any money or points. 👇

The bottom line

January through March is a great time to escape winter and head somewhere with swim-up bars. 🍹

If the Caribbean is already on your radar for early next year, look into Hyatt's all-inclusives and register for this promo.

Worst case, you get a warm vacation. Best case, you get the vacation plus a stack of free nights for the rest of 2027. 😎
