🌍 Daily Drop Travel Tournament: Round 1 Voting!

If you read yesterday’s newsletter, you’re probably here today for one reason and one reason only; to give your two cents on who you think should win the Daily Drop Travel Tournament.

Today, we will be voting on the first two brackets: Airlines and Bucket List Destinations.

All you need to do is simply click one option from each of the four polls below. How you answer is completely up to you! It can be based on economy or business, it could be your personal favorite, or it could be whichever one sounds the best or looks the coolest in photos. There is no wrong answer!

So, without further ado…

Stay tuned tomorrow when we’ll have the first round of voting for the other two brackets (points programs and travel perks).

Next week, you’ll see the results and vote on round two.

Ahhhhh I’m so excited to see what y’all decide on… And if this wasn’t exciting enough, just wait until you read the next segment…

✈️ The Daily Drop Lounge has officially opened!

Our Private Community Space is now open and you are officially invited.

I’ve been looking forward to this community since talks of it behind our Daily Drop curtain began and it’s finally here. Let me tell you a little bit about it and introduce you to a fellow travel hacker you’ll meet very soon.

The Lounge is a place for you to feel empowered to go on your first (and second… and twentieth) international trip using points.

You can ask all of your travel hacking questions, feel inspired through other travel shares, and have conversations with fellow travelers, just like we're all in our favorite airport lounge together!

And you know I love lounges, so you can bet I’ll be hanging out there too! You’ll also get the chance to meet our new Community Manager, Megan.

I’ve been spending a lot of time with Megan over the past several weeks and let me tell ya… you’re going to feel like you met your new travel best friend right when you enter Daily Drop Lounge.

Together we’ve been planning some EPIC Travel Hacking Live Training that will happen right there in our Daily Drop Lounge. (Spoiler alert: 2 special guests are joining us for the first one… rhymes with Era and Mate 😏)

So what are you waiting for?! Join us here and say hello once you’re in!

🤓 Travel Trivia Tuesday

Many of you have probably never had this destination on your radar, but the answer to our trivia question from earlier is…

The island of Socotra, Yemen!

Socotra is known for its exotic flora of over 800 species, with more than a third of these species being native to the islands.

There are at least 34 reptile and 96 land snail species, almost all of which can only be found in Socotra, along with 730 fish, 300 crustacean, 4 bat, and 192 bird species. 🐍 🐌 🦀 🦇 🦅

What it’s most famous for, however, is its iconic “dragon’s blood” trees:

The name of the tree comes from Its red sap was thought to be the dragon's blood of the ancients, sought after as a dye, and today used as paint and varnish.

Of course, Yemen is a difficult place to travel to right now (though not impossible). I hope that one day the country will be in a peaceful and stable enough place to welcome curious travelers like us.

FYI: Calling the island part of “Yemen” may be disputed, as it’s currently controlled by UAE-backed separatists in the Yemeni civil war. It’s complicated…

That’s gonna do it for today, folks! You might be disappointed that there weren’t any “travel hacks,” per se, in today’s newsletter.

But once you join the community, you’ll start to learn about travel hacks you never knew existed... So in a way, I gave you way MORE travel hacks than usual today. 😉

Plus, I think this travel tournament is a lot of fun, so I hope you are getting as into it as we are here at Daily Drop.

Had you heard of Socotra before today? Of the options in the tournament today, is there one that you think could make it all the way to the final round? Let me know by replying to this email or reaching out on social media.

See you tomorrow, beautiful people ❤️
