Our Take

McKay Moffitt

The United Business Club℠ Card is built for business owners who live and breathe United. Between lounge access, a massive PQP-earning potential and perks like complimentary upgrades and statement credits, this card offers serious travel perks. The steep annual fee might scare you, but with enough flights (and maybe a few expense reports), the value is real, especially with expanded partner lounge access after hitting a $50K spend or Premier Gold. This is most definitely a premium business card, but it packs a serious punch.

How to make the most of your

The New United Club℠ Business Card

[.dontreco] We don’t recommend: Using miles on non-travel options like gift cards or merchandise. [.dontreco]

These redemptions usually give you less than 1 cent per mile, which is a pretty bad return compared to what you could get from flights, especially in premium cabins. We recommend saving your miles for flights.

[.sometimesreco] We sometimes recommend: Using United miles for domestic award flights. [.sometimesreco]

Just double-check pricing, it can vary wildly thanks to dynamic pricing. If you find a saver-level award or have flexible dates, you might score a great deal. But if you're seeing outrageous mileage rates, it's better to wait or look at Star Alliance alternatives.

[.alwaysreco] We always recommend: Booking business or first-class flights on Star Alliance partners like Lufthansa or ANA. [.alwaysreco]

This is where you'll get the most for your miles, especially for long-haul travel. These redemptions can often get you 2–5 cents per mile in value, which is significantly more than economy tickets.

Transfer Partners

While you can’t transfer United miles to other programs, you can redeem them on over 25 Star Alliance airlines including: Singapore Airlines, Lufthansa, ANA, Air Canada, SWISS, and more. These award redemptions—especially in premium cabins—are often where you'll get the most bang for your buck.

Who Should Get The

The New United Club℠ Business Card

?

1. The United-Focused Business Owner

If your business travel revolves around United (or you just love the airlines), this card could have serious value. You’ll enjoy United Club access, solid mileage earning and an easier path to elite status, all wrapped in a business card format that works for entrepreneurs, consultants and more. You can also earn credits on hotel stays, rentals, rideshares and more, making it easier to offset the high annual fee through everyday business expenses. If you’re already putting big spend on a card, this one pays you back in perks.

2. The Status Seeker with Business Spend

With the ability to earn 28,000 PQPs per year, business owners with high monthly expenses can fast-track their way to Premier 1K. That means complimentary upgrades, waived fees and access to elite perks. Plus, hitting the $50K spend threshold opens up access to Star Alliance partner lounges and unlocks additional guest privileges — benefits you’d normally need to fly or spend a ton to access. If elite status is your ultimate goal, this card deserves a home in your wallet.

Who Should Not Get The

The New United Club℠ Business Card

?

Here’s a good rule of thumb: You probably shouldn’t own a credit card if you: (1) have a bad credit score, (2) are a non-U.S. resident (for this particular card), and (3) cannot control your spending. If your credit score is below 700, you'll need to improve it before applying for travel credit cards, as approval for the best ones, like the United Club Business, is unlikely. Be honest with yourself: if a new credit card will tempt you to overspend, it's best to avoid it. Credit cards are crucial for earning miles and points, but they require responsible use.
