Good morning and welcome to Daily Drop, your go-to emotional support travel newsletter.
I’m not saying reading this email counts as therapy… but if you’ve ever refreshed a flight search 47 times in one sitting, I do understand you on a spiritual level.
Here’s what I’ve got today:

💳 Last chance for this epic card offer
There’s been a lot of talk about credit cards recently — mostly about the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, which is flaunting an all-time high offer and making everyone feel mildly panicked about missing out (myself included).
But while the spotlight’s been on that one, the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card has been over here quietly offering $250 in travel credit and 75,000 Capital One miles like it’s no big deal.
Spoiler: It is a big deal.
And it is with a heavy heart that I must inform you that… sniffle… the offer will be ending very soon. Next Monday, May 12, to be exact. 😢

You might be thinking, “Should I get the Venture Card, or the Sapphire Preferred?”
And my response is: ¿Por qué no los dos? 😏
In fact, the two cards complement each other quite well:
Low annual fees
complementary earning rates
High welcome offers
But here are a few other reasons to get the Venture Card:
1. The welcome offer is epic
Earning 75,000 transferrable miles AND $250 of travel credit to use in the Capital One Travel portal is huge.
It combines the value of transfer partners with the value of… well… cash.
Multiple round-trips to Europe and a few nights at a hotel through the portal? Not bad for a single sign-up, eh? 😉
2. Capital One Offers
Just yesterday, I told you about how I earned 10x Capital One miles by booking a Hilton stay through this portal…
If you hold a miles-earning card from Capital One, you’ll get access to TONS of good travel offers like this:
In my experience, the value I’ve gained from these offers in one year has been worth the annual fee on its own.
3. Double miles on everything
This is one of the few cards out there that earns 2x miles on EVERY purchase.
So even if you have cards with high earning rates on things like groceries, travel, and more, you can bust out the Venture Card in every other scenario to maximize your earnings.
4. Transfer partners
As you know, Capital One miles can be transferred to over a dozen different airline and hotel programs, including fan favorites like Flying Blue, Aeroplan, Virgin, British Airways, and more.
This is one of the best ways to further multiply the value of those double miles you earn.
💡 Pro Tip: We have a Transfer Partners Cheat Sheet that breaks down which airline and hotel programs each major bank transfers to, including the ratios and estimated transfer times.
Anyway, I don’t suspect we’ll see an offer like this again anytime soon, so I’d really consider jumping on it if you can. 👇

✈️ 25% transfer bonus to Virgin Atlantic
Isn’t it weird how transfer bonuses seem to come in waves? Like, are all of these banks in a group chat together called “transfer bonus collusion” or something?
Anyway, Virgin Atlantic just RSVP’d to the party with a 25% bonus from Ultimate Rewards points, running now through June 15th:
Virgin already offers some of the best award deals in the biz, so any transfer bonus is exciting.
For example, we regularly see U.S. to Europe flights (usually during off-peak seasons) priced at just 6,000 miles one-way on Virgin’s own metal.

That means you could fly a family of four round-trip to Europe for just 48,000 Virgin miles — or just over 38,000 Ultimate Rewards points with this bonus.
If you recently signed up for this 100,000-point offer from the Sapphire Preferred, that’s round-trip flights for the whole family and more than 60,000 points left over for hotels… or another entire trip to Europe next year. 😎
Anyway, Virgin also has some decent partner award flights.
For example, if you wanted to plan a multi-country trip on the other side of the world, you could book this flight from Bali (DPS) to Sydney (SYD) for just 15,500 Virgin miles, which is a pretty good deal.

With the transfer bonus, that’s just over 12,000 Ultimate Rewards points, which is also a great deal.
So here’s the bottom line:
Virgin Atlantic is a good program to use on any given day… but with a transfer bonus, it’s excellent.
You’ve got over a month to play with this, so I’d mark your calendar and start scoping out sweet spots.

⚡️ Southwest flash sale (today only)
Look… we’ve thrown a little shade at Southwest lately. 👀
But facts are facts: they’re still wildly popular — and for now, still a solid option for domestic U.S. travel.
And today only, they’re running a 30% off flash sale that might actually make you want to fly Southwest on purpose.
Here’s the deal (strap in — it’s a doozy):
Use promo code SUNNY30
Valid for flights booked by the end of TODAY
Travel periods:
Continental U.S.: May 27 to November 19
International, Hawaii, Puerto Rico: August 17 to October 3
Inter-island Hawaii: May 27 to July 2
Must book at least 21 days in advance
Only valid on specific days of the week (you can see those here)
Discount is “up to 30%” — some routes may be less or not discounted at all
Instead of diving into the fine print with a magnifying glass, I recommend just running a quick search on Southwest’s site, popping in the promo code, and seeing if anything magical appears.
I searched this route from Oklahoma City (OKC) to St. Louis (STL) and found a nice, hefty 28% discount from the original price:

Saving almost $50 on domestic flights is great, especially on niche routes that are only served by Southwest.
Even better? This sale also applies to award flights, meaning you can save miles and money.
For example, this route from Chicago (MDW) to Denver (DEN) has flights as low as 3,500 points one way:

So, whether you’re still loyal to Southwest or just trying to burn through your points stash before the next round of changes, this is a solid chance to score savings in cash or points.

That’s all for today, folks! Before you go, I have a random travel question for you…
Where are you most likely to absolutely lose it at the airport? |
Only Email Recipients can participate in polls. |
Anyway, take care and make sure you tune back in tomorrow.
Love you,
