Winter might not be on your mind currently, but personally, I’ve already been looking for a solid deal for a mid-winter getaway.

Something to mix it up after the holidays when January drags on for a million years, and the cold, gray weather has us down in the dumps.

Well, friends, I finally found the ticket — literally.

Business class flights to Madrid starting at just 40.5k points in January and February? Let’s goooo.

And I honestly can’t think of a better time to go to Spain.

Enjoy cooler temps while strolling the city in search of tapas, visit Madrid’s world-class museums, or plan day trips to Toledo and Segovia.

My personal choice, however, would be to head down to the southern region of Andalusia, which is notoriously H-O-T in the summer months, so a cooler time of year with fewer tourists sounds like the perfect fix for the winter blues.

Why This Deal Is Amazing

Iberia has long been a sweet spot for finding business class deals to Europe, though admittedly, they’ve undergone devaluations over the years.

But lie-flat business class for 40,500 points one-way is still very much a deal, y’all.

And since I’ve been wanting to return to Spain ever since my first trip there in 2023, this might make for the perfect shoulder season trip.

Less crowded, less hot, at a fraction of the price… sign me up.

We’re seeing flights scattered throughout the year, depending on your departure airport, and with availability from 10 major U.S. hubs, it’s a trip that is ripe for the picking.

If you’ll need a repositioning flight to get to one of this deal’s departure airports, this might be an opportunity to book open-jaw flights, flying out of one city and returning to another, to make this deal work for you.

And if you happen to have a stash of Citi ThankYouÂŽ Rewards points, you can take advantage of the current 30% transfer bonus to Qatar Airways, transfer your Avios to Iberia and book this for ~32,000 Avios, which is frankly… nuts. 🤯

Remember: Avios is the name of the currency shared by the loyalty programs of Iberia Plus, British Airways Executive Club, Aer Lingus AerClub, Finnair Plus, Qatar Airways Privilege Club, and a couple of others. Read here how you can move Avios between programs.

How to Book

With Points: Find this specific fare on Daily Drop Pro. Flights start at 40,500 points and vary depending on your departing airport.

Iberia is a transfer partner of Chase, American Express, Bilt, and Wells Fargo, allowing you to transfer your points directly to Iberia to book this deal.

If you have Citi ThankYou points or Capital One Miles, you’ll need to transfer them to a different Avios partner like Qatar and move them over to Iberia to book. This is where the current 30% transfer bonus from Citi to Qatar comes into play, making this deal even sweeter.

If the mention of moving Avios between programs has you confused, we have a handy guide to help simplify the process.

With Cash: Flights price around $3,500. You can book directly with Iberia or through travel portals to earn bonus points.

The secret to miles and points? Credit cards! We keep an up-to-date list of our favorite travel cards on this page, or find all credit cards here.

Bottom Line

Let’s be real, business class always sounds nice, but it sounds even better when it’s priced at 40,500 points one-way.

Throw in a 30% transfer bonus from Citi and the price drops to ~32,000 points, and suddenly, Madrid has never sounded so good.

That’s half the price of some other routes across the pond and has me planning a whole trip in my head before I’ve even booked the flights.

If you’ve got your heart set on Spain this year, this deal could help make your tapas dreams a reality.
