Chase’s newest premium business card, the Sapphire Reserve for Business℠, comes with a hefty welcome offer: Earn 200,000 bonus points after you spend $30,000 on purchases in your first 6 months from account opening and with more than $2,500 in annual value, there's no competition..
Eligibility is also less strict compared to Chase’s personal cards like the Chase Sapphire Reserve® and the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, making the Sapphire Reserve Business a strong option if your business can meet the high spending requirement.
The card does have a hefty price tag with an annual fee of $795. But the good news is you can offset much of that cost by maximizing the numerous statement credits included with the card.
Let’s break down the card’s key statement credits and how they work.
How the Statement Credits Work
To receive a statement credit, simply make an eligible purchase with your Sapphire Reserve Business. The credit will automatically post to your account. Chase’s terms say to allow six to eight weeks for statement credits to post, but in reality, the credits typically post much quicker.
Here’s an overview of the main statement credits the Sapphire Reserve Business offers:
$300 Annual Travel Credit
The $300 annual travel credit is particularly valuable because “travel” is a broad category that includes things like flights, hotels, cruises, car rentals, tours, public transportation, and taxis/rideshares.
You don’t need to spend it all at once. You can make multiple purchases in the travel category to accumulate up to $300. The credit resets each anniversary year, not calendar year, meaning you will get a new $300 travel credit 12 months after your open date.
If you’re a frequent traveler, you’ll almost certainly use this benefit without trying.
$500 Credit for The Edit by Chase Travel
The Edit by Chase Travel is a collection of premium hotels and resorts around the world. With this benefit, you’ll receive up to $250 in statement credits from January to June and another $250 from July to December, for a total of up to $500 per calendar year toward prepaid bookings with a two-night minimum stay.
Let me repeat, a two-night minimum stay and prepayment are required to trigger this credit.
By booking through The Edit, you’ll also enjoy luxurious extras, such as a $100 property credit, daily breakfast for two, and room upgrades (subject to availability).
Up to $120 Statement Credit for Global Entry, TSA PreCheck, or NEXUS
Every four years, you can receive up to a $120 statement credit for the Global Entry, TSA PreCheck, or NEXUS application fee. If you already have one of these programs for yourself or other cards with statement credits, you can use it toward an employee, family member, or friend’s application fee, so that it doesn’t go to waste.
Up to $100 Gift Card Credit
You can get up to $50 from January to June and up to $50 from July to December when you buy selected gift cards from giftcards.com/reservebusiness. A curated collection of gift cards is available from dining, entertainment, and shopping merchants, such as Chipotle, DoorDash, Fandango, Dave & Buster’s, Macy’s, and Sephora.
This benefit is available through October 31, 2028.
Up to $200 Google Workspace Credit
This is an annual benefit for purchases made directly with Google Workspace. With Google Workspace, you can get a custom email at your company domain, plus premium versions of its tools like Gmail, Calendar, Drive, and Meet.
This benefit is available through December 31, 2027.
Up to $400 ZipRecruiter Credit
This is a twice-yearly benefit for purchases made directly with ziprecruiter.com. You can get up to $200 from January to June and up to $200 from July to December. That’s a total of $400 per year, available through December 31, 2027.
Business owners looking to hire employees may find value in this benefit, but if you’re a one-person show or not actively hiring, this credit may be harder to use.
Additional Credits and Benefits
The Sapphire Reserve Business also has some additional benefits that are not traditional statement credits that post directly to your account, but are promotions from partner merchants and still add serious value.
Here are the additional credits and benefits:
Up to $120 Lyft Credit
You get up to $10 in monthly in-app credits (equaling $120 annually) to use on Lyft rides through September 30, 2027. Unused credits, unfortunately, do not roll over. You will forfeit any unused credit at the end of each month.
Up to $420 DoorDash value
The DoorDash benefit includes a complimentary DashPass for 12 months, which is valued at $120. DashPass includes $0 delivery fees and reduced service fees, plus 5% DoorDash credit back on pickup orders and special discounts and promotions for members.
In addition, you’ll receive up to $300 annually in DoorDash promos in $25 monthly increments — a $5 monthly promo for restaurant orders and two $10 monthly promos for non-restaurant orders.
Big Spender Bonuses
If your business can spend $120,000 during the year, you’ll unlock even more benefits, including:
Up to $500 in statement credits for The Shops at Chase
Up to $500 in statement credits for Southwest Airlines flights booked through Chase Travel
IHG One Rewards Diamond Elite status
Southwest Rapid Rewards A-List status
You’ll receive these benefits for the remainder of the calendar year that you qualify and keep them through the following calendar year.
Bottom Line
The Sapphire Reserve for Business℠ comes with a steep annual fee, but the long list of credits and perks can easily outweigh it if you maximize them. Even if you don’t use every benefit, tapping into the big ones like the $300 travel credit, $500 Edit benefit, and Lyft/DoorDash credits can save you hundreds each year.
Set reminders so you don’t miss out on semiannual or monthly credits. When used wisely, this card is more than worth its place in your wallet.
