Our Take

The Chase Sapphire Reserve for Business℠ is the premium business card we didn’t know we needed. It's full of great travel perks, super nice hotel benefits, and business-friendly credits, all while giving you major earning potential across a variety of spend categories.

Between high-value credits, lounge access, and Chase's new Points Boost redemptions, this card is targeting business owners and frequent travelers alike. And unlike the personal version, you'll get bonus points for flights and hotels booked directly and solid points back on ads, too. If you're a frequent flyer (and fan of business travel cards), this newbie more than deserves your attention.

⚠️ Heads Up: You may not be eligible for a welcome offer if you currently have or previously had a personal Sapphire card. While you can now hold both the Sapphire Preferred and Sapphire Reserve at the same time, you can only earn a welcome offer on one of them. If you previously held a Sapphire card, no longer have it, and are applying for the other card for the first time, you may be eligible for a welcome offer. There is no set waiting period between downgrading or canceling a Sapphire card and applying for the other, but it can take around two weeks for Chase’s system to recognize that you're no longer a Sapphire cardholder.

How to make the most of your

Sapphire Reserve for Business℠

This card is packed with value but only if you take full advantage of what it offers.

[.dontreco] We don’t recommend: Turning points into cash back or gift cards at a flat 1 cent per point. [.dontreco]

It’s the least valuable redemption option and doesn’t reflect the premium vibe of this card. If that’s your main goal, a flat-rate cash-back card makes more sense.

[.sometimesreco] We sometimes recommend: Using the Chase Travel Portal. [.sometimesreco]

When award availability is limited, or when cash prices are unusually low, redeeming through Chase Travel at a fixed rate (and now up to 2x with Points Boost) can give you great value. You’ll also earn points on cash bookings through the portal, which isn’t always the case with other travel redemptions.

[.alwaysreco] We always recommend: Transferring your Ultimate Rewards points to Chase’s airline and hotel partners. [.alwaysreco]

This is where the real magic happens. With a little flexibility and research, you can get incredible value. And now, combine this with the Points Boost feature, and things are going to get even sweeter.

Transfer Partners

Gosh, I just love transfer partners — don't you? Plus, Chase makes it pretty easy to transfer those points:

  1. Log in to your Chase account
  2. Click “points” > three-dot menu > “Transfer to Travel Partners”
  3. Choose your program, enter your loyalty number, and confirm transfer

Boom. Your points are now in airline/hotel territory and ready to be redeemed.

Best Complementary Cards

Ink Business Unlimited® Credit Card

No annual fee, 1.5% cash back on all purchases, and those points can be combined with your Sapphire Reserve for Business account and transferred to travel partners. This is a great catch-all card for purchases that don’t fall under bonus categories like travel or advertising.

Ink Business Cash® Credit Card

LIMITED TIME OFFER

Also with no annual fee, this card earns 5% cash back on internet, cable, and phone services, plus office supply stores (all common business expenses). You can stack this with the Reserve a pretty ideal business setup of high earnings across both fixed and rotating categories.

Chase Freedom Unlimited®

If you mix business and personal cards and already have the Freedom Unlimited, don’t knock this one. You’ll earn 1.5% cash back (again, transferable to Ultimate Rewards), and the extra categories like dining can fill gaps that the business Reserve doesn’t cover.

Capital One Venture X Business

I know, I know. two business cards… she's crazy. But, you’ll earn 2x miles on every purchase, regardless of category, and still have access to transfer partners and premium lounges. It won’t replace the Sapphire Reserve for Business, but it can complement it well, especially for simple flat-rate earnings.

Who Should Get The

Sapphire Reserve for Business℠

?

1. The High-Spending Business Owner

If you’re regularly spending five or six figures annually on your business, whether that’s flights, hotels, ads, or general operations, this card is going to pay for itself pretty quickly. With travel credits, Points Boost, lounge access, and business-friendly statement credits, it’ll reward you well. And, if you're running ads on Facebook, Instagram, or Google, you’ll earn points back on every dollar.

2. The Boujee Business Traveler

Whether you’re flying out for client meetings, conferences, or personal retreats that just happen to be "work-adjacent," this card helps you do it all with some finer touches. From Sapphire Lounge access and hotel credits at The Edit to high-value transfers to Hyatt, United, and more, you’re covered.

3. The Points Person

If you’ve already mastered the Chase trifecta and are deep into the world of redemptions, this card will feel like an upgrade in every way. From premium redemptions with Points Boost to flexible transfer options, you're looking at one of the highest potential redemption rates on the market (with a little business flare).

Who Should Not Get The

Sapphire Reserve for Business℠

?

If you’re not spending much on travel or advertising (or prefer simple cash-back rewards) this card might be a little overkill. Also, if you won’t use the perks like Chase Travel bookings or lounges, a lower-fee card like the Ink Business Cash® or Capital One Spark might make more sense for you.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Is the Ink Business Preferred or Sapphire Reserve for Business better?

The Ink Business Preferred is better for people who want solid value for a small fee, while the Sapphire Reserve for Business is great for luxury travel perks and higher spend. Either way, you’re earning valuable Ultimate Rewards.

What’s the 5/24 rule for Chase?

The 5/24 rule means Chase will likely deny your application if you’ve opened five or more personal credit cards from any bank in the past 24 months.

Can you hold both the personal and business Sapphire Reserve?

Yes, you can hold both versions of the Sapphire Reserve, which opens up a ton of strategy if you're wanting to separate business and personal spending, or take advantage of different perks.
