💳 20% transfer bonus from Chase to Aeroplan

When it rains, it pours — and this Chase transfer bonus is an absolute monsoon of value.

From now through July 17, you’ll get a 20% bonus when transferring Chase Ultimate Rewards® points to Air Canada Aeroplan.

Here’s why this is one of the best offers we’ve seen all year:

  • Transfer bonuses to Aeroplan are rare —they typically happen just once or twice a year, and only from Chase.

  • Aeroplan is already one of the most valuable programs, thanks to its distance-based award chart that unlocks some amazing sweet spots.

For example, you can fly from the U.S. to Europe in Singapore Airlines business class for 60,000 Aeroplan points. With the 20% bonus, you’d only need 50,000 Chase points — for a flight that usually costs over $2,500.

If you’ve recently picked up the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card when it was offering an elevated welcome offer, you may already have enough points for a round-trip in luxury.

But here’s the kicker: You don’t need to rely solely on your Sapphire Preferred or Chase Sapphire Reserve® to earn those points.

If you also hold a Chase Freedom Unlimited® or Chase Freedom Flex® card, you can rack up 1x to 5x points on everyday purchases.

These cards technically earn cash-back, but when paired with a Sapphire card, you can turn your rewards into fully transferable Ultimate Rewards points — and therefore eligible for this 20% transfer bonus. 🔥

Prefer domestic travel? You’re still in luck. Even after recent changes, Aeroplan still offers solid value on domestic United flights.

For instance, you can fly from San Francisco (SFO) to Newark (EWR) for just 15,000 Aeroplan points, which is already less than what United usually charges. With the bonus, that’s just 12,500 Chase points to hop across the country.

And if you have the Aeroplan® Credit Card (currently offering 75,000 bonus points after you spend $4,000 in three months), things get even saucier:

This card gives you an extra 10% bonus when you transfer at least 50,000 Chase points to Aeroplan in a single go. That stacks with the 20% bonus for a total of 30% more points — which is practically unheard of for Aeroplan.

Bottom line: This is one of the best ways to use Chase points we’ve seen all year—and it’s a shining example of why you should:

  1. Get a card that earns Chase Ultimate Rewards® (like the Sapphire Preferred, Sapphire Reserveor Freedom cards), and

  2. Consider pairing it with the Aeroplan Card for maximum upside.

😮 Is another major credit card overhaul happening?

This bank just stunned the credit card world by announcing that The Platinum Card® from American Express (and its business counterpart, The Business Platinum Card® from American Express) will undergo some “major updates” later this year.

The Amex Platinum already earns 5x Membership Rewards points on flights and offers a handful of valuable credits, so how will it improve?

American Express in question coyly suggested that it’ll take both cards to a new level in what they offer for travel, dining, and lifestyle benefits…

Is it trying to steal the spotlight from the bank that just announced a major overhaul to its own premium travel card?

All I can say is… our ears are ringing. 👀

🙌 Heads Up: The Amex Platinum is boasting a welcome offer as high as 175k bonus points! Offers may vary, and you may not be eligible for an offer — but apply to know if you’re approved and to find out your exact welcome offer amount.

🥂 Cheap business-class flights to Europe

Singapore Airlines’ Spontaneous Escapes is back, offering 30% off select award bookings for July travel. You’ll need to book by the end of June, but the savings can be huge.

Even if you’ve already locked in your summer flights, it’s worth checking to see if you can score a better deal and cancel your original plans.

Which routes are discounted?

This month’s list of routes includes lots of shorter routes around Southeast Asia and India, but here’s the exciting one for U.S. travelers:

  • New York City (JFK) to Frankfurt (FRA) for 56,700 miles in business class or 36,400 miles in premium economy

And yes, these rates are available in both directions, with just a few blackout dates primarily around the Fourth of July.

While many business-class seats have already been swooped up, premium economy is still wide open:

Even if Germany isn’t your final stop, you could use this to cross the Atlantic in style and book a quick positioning flight to your actual European destination.

How to get Singapore miles

Singapore KrisFlyer miles are extremely easy to earn, as you can transfer points from almost every major bank.

If you recently signed up for the Sapphire Preferred or the CCapital One Venture Rewards Credit Card, you could potentially book this route for yourself and a companion.

Bottom line: If you’re willing to get a little spontaneous, you could be stretching out with a glass of champagne instead of crying in a middle seat in economy (no judgment – we’ve all been there).

That’s all for today, folks! Just FYI – in honor of Juneteenth tomorrow, we’ll be sending out a shorter, simpler edition.

See you then,
