You’re earning a mix of rewards on different Chase cards, but here’s the million-point question: Can you combine all those rewards into one super-pot of transferrable Ultimate Rewards points to book your next vacation?
The short answer: Yes, you can! 🎉
Even though Chase markets some cards as “cash-back cards,” they don’t actually earn straight cash back. Instead, they earn Chase Ultimate Rewards® points — redeemable at a flat one cent per point for cash back or statement credits, but without full transfer capabilities. The real magic happens when you also hold a premium Chase card, since that’s when you can combine points and unlock far more valuable travel redemptions.
I love when my friends pull out their wallets and ask, “So what am I supposed to be doing with these cards?!” 🤓 Let’s break it down.
Know Your Chase Cards
Chase cards fall into two main groups:
Cash-Back Cards (Your Everyday Spenders)
These cards technically earn Ultimate Rewards points, but on their own, redemptions are capped at a flat one cent per point (I wouldn’t recommend that route).
Points-Earning Cards (the Key to Unlocking Transfer Power)
These also earn Ultimate Rewards points, but the difference is that they unlock the ability to transfer to airline and hotel partners (and offer higher value when booking through Chase Travel).
Why does this matter? Because Ultimate Rewards points are worth far more when redeemed for travel. Converting those Freedom or Ink points (oh yea, we’re getting into the business side of things too!) into true Ultimate Rewards points can double or even triple their value.

How to Combine Your Chase Rewards
Moving Points Between Your Own Cards
Transferring points between Chase cards is refreshingly easy:
Log in to your Chase account.
Click to navigate to your Ultimate Rewards dashboard.
Choose any cash-back or travel card from your list.
Once in the dashboard, click Manage Rewards.
Select Combine Points.
Pick the card you want to transfer from and the card you want to transfer to.
Type in the number of points you want to move.
Confirm the transfer, and hit submit.

Boom — instant points pooling. Remember, for the most value out of those points, transfer from the cash-back card(s) to your travel card — not the other way around.
🚨 Important: If you plan to close or downgrade a card, transfer any points first so you don’t lose them.
Chase allows you to share points with one member of your household or a co‑owner of your business.
To add a household member, you will need to call the number on the back of your card the first time — but once the relationship is set up, the recipient’s account will appear online in your options to transfer to. Easy peasy.
Business + Personal: Can You Combine Them?
Yes — you can absolutely combine points between your Chase business cards and personal cards. For example:
You might earn 5% back (up to $25k per year) on office supplies with your Ink Business Cash.
Then, transfer those points to your Sapphire Reserve to book travel at up to 2¢ per point through Chase TravelSM — or transfer to an airline or hotel partner for potentially even higher value.
When you log into your business account, go to Profile & settings → Account settings → Manage linked accounts, then link your personal account. After linking, you can see all of your cards under one login and, more importantly, combining Ultimate Rewards points becomes seamless.
Congrats! Business and personal points now live happily together in your Ultimate Rewards ecosystem. 🤝
Redeem for Maximum Value
Once your points are pooled, you’ve got two main ways to stretch their value:
Book Through Chase Travel:
With Sapphire Preferred: up to 1.75¢ per point through Points Boost.
With Sapphire Reserve: up to 2¢ per point through Points Boost.
Transfer to Travel Partners:
Chase partners with airlines like United, Air Canada, and British Airways, plus hotels like Hyatt and Marriott.
Transfers are typically 1:1 and often unlock outsized value (think: business class flights or $500+ hotel nights for only 20–25k points).

Bottom Line
Chase’s “cash-back” cards may sound simple, but they actually earn Ultimate Rewards points. On their own, those points are worth just one cent each. Pair them with a premium card and suddenly you unlock higher redemption rates, transfer partners, and 2–3× the value.
It’s like trading a PB&J sandwich for a filet mignon. By pooling your cards, you’re not just saving money—you’re unlocking travel experiences that once felt out of reach.
And when you’re stretched out in a lie-flat seat booked with points, filet mignon on your tray table, don’t forget to think of me. 😉
