There’s nothing that screams summer quite like an Italian vacation. The pasta. The wine. The long, meandering drives through rolling hills and sleepy vineyards. It’s about as dreamy as it gets. (Throwback to when our founders, Kara and Nate, hosted Vespa tours in Italy!)
Of course, not everything is wine and roses — especially when it comes to the price of hotels. And let’s be honest, you’re probably not even spending that much time in your room anyway.
Thankfully, there are tons of hotels in Italy you can book with points — and we mean tons. From Marriott Bonvoy to Hilton Honors to World of Hyatt (and plenty in between), nearly every major program has options scattered across the country.
So now that I’ve got you thinking about your next plate of carbonara, let’s break down the best hotel redemptions by region and points program.
Tuscany and Central Italy
Marriott Bonvoy: Renaissance Tuscany Il Ciocco Resort and Spa

Perched on a 1,500‑acre park high above the Serchio Valley, this is a classic Tuscan retreat with a spa, vineyards, and freaking insane views. It looks like the sort of place you’d see on a wine bottle label. Standard rooms come with balconies and marble bathrooms, there’s a heated indoor pool, and the on‑site restaurant even offers cooking classes!
Award nights can drop as low as about 25,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night, which is crazy good for Tuscany. While we generally recommend saving your transferable points for airline transfers, if you’re short on Marriott Bonvoy points, you can transfer points at a 1:1 ratio from a Chase Ultimate Rewards card like the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card or Chase Sapphire Reserve®, or an American Express Membership Rewards card. Transferring points from the Bilt Mastercard (rates & fees) is also an option.
🤓 Pro Tip: You can get your fifth night free when booking five consecutive nights with points.
Hilton Honors: Byblos Art Hotel Villa Amistà (SLH)
Just outside Verona (easy to rope into a Tuscany trip), this over-the-top 16th‑century villa is part of Hilton’s Small Luxury Hotels partnership… and it’s nice. Like nice, nice.
Standard award nights here typically cost 90,000 Hilton Honors points per night. It isn’t cheap, but if you love design and want bragging rights, it’s a great redemption. The easiest way to boost your Hilton Honors balance is generally with a co-branded Hilton card like the Hilton Honors American Express Surpass® Card or by buying Hilton points (ideally with a bonus). Alternatively, if you have a card like The Platinum Card® from American Express or American Express® Gold Card, Membership Rewards transfer to Hilton at a 1:2 ratio. Bilt Rewards points also transfer to Hilton.
✨ Hot Tip: Don’t forget the Fifth Night Free perk if you’re a Silver elite or higher.
World of Hyatt: IL Tornabuoni Hotel
This boutique gem on Florence’s chic Via de’ Tornabuoni is part of Hyatt’s Unbound Collection. You’re literally steps from the Duomo and shopping by day, and back in a room that blends Renaissance frescoes with modern comforts at night.
As a top-tier Category 8 World of Hyatt property, off-peak nights cost 35,000 points, standard nights are 40,000 points, and peak nights run 45,000 points. You can earn Hyatt points with a co-branded card like The World of Hyatt Credit Card or transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards points.

IHG One Rewards: Hotel Indigo Florence
Located in the heart of the Santa Maria Novella neighborhood is the very beautiful Hotel Indigo Florence. It mixes modern touches with Florence’s art heritage.
And what makes it even prettier? Award nights can start at 32,000 points in the winter or around 60,000 to 80,000 points during busier periods. And if you’re short on points, remember IHG often sells them for under a cent each when there’s a promotion. The IHG Premier can also help you out since it unlocks the fourth-night free perk.

Wyndham Rewards: Wyndham Garden Florence
This hotel is pretty basic. But, if you’re balling on a budget, you can’t beat 15,000 Wyndham points per night, especially in the Tuscany region. You’ll be situated in the Novoli neighborhood, which is less than an hour by bus ride from the Basilica of Santa Croce. Capital One miles and Citi ThankYou points transfer at a 1:1 rate to Wyndham.

Lake Como and Northern Italy
Marriott Bonvoy: Sheraton Lake Como Hotel
If you’ve been daydreaming about sipping Aperol Spritz on Lake Como, this Sheraton might be your most practical shot. Rooms overlook mountains or the hotel’s private park, there’s a seasonal pool, and you’re just a ferry ride from the town of Como.
Rates can vary pretty significantly depending on the season, but generally range between 50,000 to 80,000 points per night. Again, your Sapphire Preferred or Amex cards can help you out here.

World of Hyatt: Park Hyatt Milan
A big splurge, y’all! The Park Hyatt Milan is one of those bucket‑list luxury hotels — think spa-like bathrooms, views of the Duomo and the Galleria, and service that makes you feel like royalty.
It’s a Category 8 World of Hyatt property, so award nights range between 35,000 to 45,000 points per night. That might sound steep, but cash rates generally top $1,100 per night, so you’re getting great value. The Sapphire Preferred or Sapphire Reserve are your go-tos for transferring directly to Hyatt.

Hilton: Hilton Lake Como
Okay, so who the heck wouldn’t want to score a Lake Como hotel with points? This is one of Hilton’s nicest options in northern Italy, complete with a rooftop pool, modern rooms and a spa.
Standard room rewards cost 90,000 points, so you’ll want to have a stash of Hilton points from a card like the Hilton Honors American Express Surpass® Card. This could also be a good use of any free night certificates you might have from your eligible Hilton card.

Naples, the Amalfi Coast, and Southern Italy
Hilton Honors: Palazzo Caracciolo Naples
A palace converted into a hotel? SIGN. ME. UP.
This independent hotel that participates in Hilton Honors can be booked for 40,000 to 50,000 Hilton points per night, depending on the season. Use your Amex Gold or Amex Platinum to load up Hilton Honors points and enjoy Naples like a local.
Marriott Bonvoy: Mangia’s Brucoli, Sicily, Autograph Collection
For a Sicilian coastal resort vibe, this family-friendly hotel typically ranges from 35,000 to 60,000 Bonvoy points per night, making it one of the more affordable Marriott options. Again, Chase or Amex cards that transfer to Marriott work perfectly.

IHG One Rewards: Holiday Inn Nola - Naples Vulcano Buono
Is this the nicest hotel in the world? No. But do nights start at just 14,000 points for a prime spot in Naples? Yes. While it’s a pretty basic Holiday Inn, it’s still a great option for a longer stay, and even better if you hold the IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card.
Wyndham Rewards: Ramada Naples
The Ramada in Naples is nothing fancy, but it’ll only cost you 15,000 Wyndham points per night, which is one of the lowest point prices on this list. It’s very much a budget hotel, but it works if you want to stretch your points. Capital One miles and Citi ThankYou points transfer at a 1:1 rate to Wyndham.
Choice Privileges: Gardenia Sorrento Coast, Ascend Hotel Collection
This is arguably one of the top Choice redemptions in Italy. This boutique hotel overlooks the Bay of Naples and often prices at 20,000 Choice points per night. It’s one of the best ways to stay near Sorrento on a budget. Transfer points from Capital One or Citi ThankYou cards and save your cash for a boat trip to Capri.

Venice and Northeast Italy
Choice Privileges: Hotel Aquarius Venice, Ascend Hotel Collection
This is one of the absolute best uses of Choice points in Italy. Award nights hover around 20,000 to 25,000 Choice points, making it very budget-friendly for such a prime Venice spot. Load up with miles from Capital One cards (like the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card) or Citi ThankYou points, both of which transfer to Choice. Amex cards are another option.

Marriott Bonvoy: Hotel Greif, a Member of Design Hotels
Located in Bolzano, at the base of the Dolomites, this hotel is equal parts old‑world charm and contemporary art. Award nights are consistently around 59,000 points per night.
Marriott Bonvoy: JW Marriott Venice Resort and Spa
Two words I love: “Italy” and “private island.” Wait, that’s three. Who cares?
Nights at this super unique spot start around 65,000 points, depending on the season, but can top 100,000 points. The Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant® American Express® Card is great to have on deck, but again, Chase Ultimate Rewards, American Express Membership Rewards, and Bilt points would all transfer over.

Rome and Lazio
Hilton Honors: Hilton Garden Inn Rome Colosseum (Opening March 2026)
If you want to wake up within steps of the Colosseum, keep an eye on this upcoming Hilton Garden Inn slated to open in 2026.
When it opens, expect to pay 52,000 to 95,000 Hilton points per night, which is high for a Garden Inn but understandable, being this close to one of the world’s most famous landmarks. The Amex Gold or Amex Platinum is best for building your Hilton stash.
📣 Don't Miss: Daily Drop’s Favorite Hotel Credit Cards
Choice Privileges: Clarion Collection Principessa Isabella
Choice has several Rome options, but this is one of the nicest if you like a little old‑school glamour. Award nights typically cost 20,000 points, which is a steal for central Rome. You can transfer points from the Venture X or Citi Strata Premier® Card and treat yourself to a night at the opera.
World of Hyatt: The Tribune, JdV by Hyatt
For something more modern, check out The Tribune, part of Hyatt’s JdV collection. It’s right in the heart of Rome in the Villa Borghese neighborhood. Nights range between 21,000 and 29,000 points, which is pretty solid. The World of Hyatt Credit Card is your best bet for this one.

Marriott Bonvoy: The Courtyard Rome Central Park or Le Méridien Visconti Rome
Marriott hotels in Rome do seem to be on the pricier side, but there are a few options nonetheless. The Courtyard Rome is one of the cheaper options, starting at around 21,000 points per night, and is near the Vatican City and the Olympic Stadium. The Le Méridien is a little more central but still pricier. Expect to pay at least around 50,000 points per night for that one.
Either way, there are a few cards that would help here: the Marriott Bonvoy Boundless® Credit Card and the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant® American Express® Card are two of our favorites.
IHG One Rewards: Crowne Plaza Rome - St. Peter's or InterContinental Rome Ambasciatori Palace
Again, in this case, the further outside of the city you go, the fewer points you’ll pay. But these are both great options, in my opinion. The Crowne Plaza sits a bit further out but makes up for it with one of the biggest pools I’ve ever seen at a hotel. You can find nights for around 30,000 to 60,000 points here.
On the other end of the spectrum, the InterContinental Rome sits on Via Veneto and oozes old‑world glamour. Nights here generally range between 80,000 and 120,000 points, depending on the time of year. For these hotels, we’d recommend holding the IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card.
Best Credit Card Pairings to Earn These Points Faster
Italy’s not exactly a cheap destination, so having the right combination of credit cards can greatly affect how quickly you rack up the points you need for these hotels. It’s kind of like picking the right sauce for your pasta — the right pairing makes everything better. Here are some simple combos to consider:
For Hyatt and Marriott Stays
If your Italian dream trip revolves around Hyatt luxury (like the Park Hyatt Milan or IL Tornabuoni) or Marriott’s extensive options, pairing a Sapphire Preferred or Sapphire Reserve with an Ink Business Preferred® Credit Card is tough to beat.
Both earn valuable Chase Ultimate Rewards points, which transfer 1:1 to Hyatt and Marriott
You’ll also unlock big welcome offers (often 60k to 100k points each) that can easily cover three to six nights at many of these hotels
The Sapphire Preferred earns solid points back on dining and travel, while the Ink Business Preferred is great for business expenses like shipping or social ads
🤓 Pro Tip: You can mix these up — like pairing a Sapphire Preferred (for Hyatt and Marriott) with a Venture X (for Choice and Wyndham). More cards means more welcome offers, more categories, and more award bookings (yay!).
For Hilton Stays
If you’re eyeing Hilton’s portfolio in Italy, especially the Small Luxury Hotels like Byblos Art Hotel Villa Amistà, pairing an Amex Gold with an Amex Platinum can do a lot of good for your Hilton account.
Amex transfers to Hilton at 1:2, so 100k Membership Rewards equals 200k Hilton points
The Amex Gold earns solid points back at restaurants worldwide (Italy included), which is perfect for maximizing dining during travel
The Amex Platinum earns hella points back on flights, and you’ll get automatic Hilton Gold status (with enrollment) for perks like upgrades and free breakfast
For Choice and Wyndham Stays
Looking to book those Choice Privileges boutique hotels in Venice or Sorrento, or stretching points with Wyndham’s budget options?
The Venture X earns 2x back everywhere, transfers 1:1 to both Wyndham and Choice, and comes with tons of travel credits
The Citi Premier also transfers to both programs, earning points on air travel, gas, supermarkets and dining, and frequently has generous welcome offers
Bottom Line
Hotels in Italy can get pricey, especially during high season, but points can open the door to experiences that might otherwise be out of reach. From the rolling hills of Tuscany to the canals of Venice, there are solid options across Marriott, Hyatt, Hilton, IHG, Choice, and Wyndham.
No matter what kind of Italy trip you’re planning, it’s going to be bellissimo — especially if your hotel’s paid for with sweet, sweet rewards points.
Now if you’ll excuse me, let me go practice my Italian on Rosetta Stone. Ciao! 🇮🇹
